The county-wide school system includes 8 elementary, 4 middle, 2 high schools, an Alternative School and a Performance Learning Center.

The Barrow County Early Learning Center or Pre-K school is located in Bethlehem in the former Bethlehem Elementary School facility. A new Bethlehem Elementary School was built and opened in 2003 located just outside of Bethlehem off Highway 11.

Bethlehem's Mayor and Town Council serve 4-year terms.
